Leadership

John Montgomery is the Founder and Managing Partner of Blackbuck and has over a decade of finance experience across investment banking, private equity, and multiple operating companies. Prior to founding Blackbuck, John was the Chief Financial Officer of Sentinel Petroleum ("Sentinel") and Longleaf Environmental Services ("Longleaf"). 

Prior to his time at Sentinel and Longleaf, John worked for Encino Energy in their Corporate Development Group performing FP&A functions, underwriting financial and M&A transactions across multiple verticals of the oil and gas sector related to Encino Energy activities. 

Prior to Encino Energy, John worked for Platform Partners, a Houston based, generalist private equity firm where he helped in sourcing new deals and overseeing activities related to the firm's investments in the oil & gas, saltwater disposal, financial services, and construction spaces.

Originally from Dallas, Texas and currently residing in Midland, Texas, John holds a Bachelor's in International Politics and Economics from Middlebury College.
